IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) is a soft tissue technique that utilizes instruments to improve the restoration and healing of soft tissue pathologies. This idea stemmed from the original Graston Technique, the first in the field of instrument assisted soft tissue work. Now, you can find many different techniques, with all implementing instruments to increase range of motion, decrease pain, and enhance athletic performance. When scar tissue develops from an injury, it forms in an unorganized manner, leading to decreased range of motion. This technique complements the chiropractic adjustment and can lead to adjustments lasting for longer periods of time, as well as increased healing time.
